She also championed the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra, the Winnipeg Art Gallery, the Manitoba Chamber Orchestra, the Winnipeg Contemporary Dancers, and the Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre. Kathleen served on several corporate boards, including James Richardson & Sons, Gulf Canada, Barclays Bank of Canada, and Sun-Life Assurance Company.

“As the 49th inductee, Kathleen Richardson was celebrated as an extraordinary leader in Winnipeg. The Citizens Hall of Fame is an initiative which recognizes people in our community who have contributed to Winnipeg’s quality of life with exceptional achievements in community service. Over the course of her lifetime, Kathleen was a renowned philanthropist and long-time supporter of Winnipeg’s arts community. There is no question that our community benefitted greatly from the work, efforts and philanthropy afforded by Kathleen Richardson. As someone who preferred to make donations anonymously, we may never know the full impact of her contributions to our city.”

~ Cliff King, Chair of the Winnipeg Regional Real Estate Board’s Citizens Hall of Fame Selection Committee.

“Kathleen Richardson was the epitome of power, passion, and partnership for the arts community and especially the world of dance. We are incredibly grateful for her tremendous friendship and generosity; our nomination was another opportunity to ensure her legacy – the indelible mark she left with the RWB – lives on for future generations in perpetuity.”
